This unique story was when I visited a restaurant in the
South Jakarta area. Golden Joy is a family restaurant with a Chinese Indian
concept. Well, unexpectedly the owner of this restaurant turns out to be from
India but of Chinese descent family. Looks like an oriental Asian face but is able to speak
Indian fluently.
The interior of the restaurant is oriental and has touches
of red or gold which are synonymous with Chinese vibes. The restaurant's
capacity is quite large from an indoor space with round tables, an outdoor area, and 2 VIP rooms. Of course, this is a highly recommended restaurant for
celebrating events.
According to the concept, Golden Joy offers a variety of
Chinese dishes which are actually quite familiar. However, if you pay
attention, many dishes use typical Indian spices and seasonings. One of the
highlight menus is Manchurian Gobi. So this is an Indian-style vegetarian dish.
Use cauliflower cooked with herbs and spices such as onions, ginger,
coriander, pepper, and cumin.
Fantastic dishes like Hot Garlic Drums of Heaven. Fried
chicken coated in flour with a deep reddish color. The crispy texture and tender
chicken with a layer of spicy sauce. No joke, the spiciness really shakes the
tongue. The dishes at Golden Joy are classified as comfort, most of the menu is
Chinese food in general, but with a touch of typical Indian spices. But of
course, it is certainly different from a general Chinese restaurant.
The prices are quite standard, and the entire menu is with
shared portions for 2-3 persons. This restaurant is suitable for family lunches or dinners.
Makes you curious, right?! Chinese Indian Restaurant, of course, this is the
first time I have tried a restaurant concept like this.

Golden Joy,
Jl. Hang Lekir X No.20, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta Selatan.
Good news for me when I see the development of the high-end
dining business in Jakarta is expanding. In this season, Privy Dharmawangsa
opened a branch in Jakarta for the first time, more precisely in Dharmawangsa
Square, South Jakarta. As the name implies Privy which in English means private
or secret, this restaurant really provides an exclusive and intimate
atmosphere. Once you enter on the 1st floor, there will be a greeter who will
take you up to the restaurant through the elevator.
On normal days they just open for dinner time, where an elegant,
classic, and luxurious feel is felt in this restaurant. For space capacity that
is not too large, according to the concept it will provide an intimate and
exclusive dining experience. Privy Dharmawangsa serves dishes with modern
Italian American inspiration. Take note, it's not an authentic Italian
restaurant, so if you want to eat pizza, it would be not the best option to go here. 😆
But you can still enjoy a variety of pasta with a modern
touch that suits the appetite of the community in Jakarta. One of the unique
must menus such as Linguine Pescatore Alla Jokowi, an interesting story
behind the dish with the name of the President of Indonesia. This menu was
indeed made for President Jokowi when attending an event in the past. Pasta
with various seafood such as clams, shrimp, and calamari. Then tomato-based
sauce and Calabrian chili sauce which gives it a spicy taste. Here you can
imagine a mixed taste between Italy and Indonesia.
The main menu that is recommended is the steak selection.
With a fairly complete selection of meat and premium quality. Both dry-age and
non-dry-age are available. We know that meat that goes through the dry-age
process, especially after 28 days, produces meat that is super tender and has a
tempting aroma. There is a price for quality, one of the terms that are often
used in accordance with this dish. Rib-eye done 28 days dry-aged is satisfying.
The perfect tender texture and just the right aroma.
Not only the main course but there are also side dishes that are
quite interesting to me. 15 hour Potatoes, sounds simple, a dish made from
potatoes. But what about processing potatoes up to 15 hours? Well, going
through a long process and with detailed techniques at first glance it looks
like a cake-shaped fried potato, but once try it, there are dozen of thin layers of
potatoes. The consistency of the thin slices of potatoes makes the
experience even more impressive.
Overall the dining experience here is memorable with a
comfortable, luxurious atmosphere according to my standards. All the dishes
that I enjoy can be a recommendation when you visit there. A modern style that
suits the tastes of Jakarta society and is familiar. Don't forget to try the
unique and delicious cocktail creations from professional bartenders, besides
they serve cocktails with beautiful presentations. For service, it might be
better with improvements from serving timings that are not too rushed, and more
precise arrangement of cutlery. Prices are relatively high, maybe you can spend
from IDR 500K per person for dinner here.

Privy Dharmawangsa,
The Dharmawangsa Square, Jl. Dharmawangsa VI, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta,
So happy that the opportunity to travel to Thailand is wide
open for Indonesian citizens after the pandemic era for more than 2 years. A
little information for you, for now, you don't even need to fill out an arrival
card when you arrive in Thailand for Indonesian citizens. Various airlines are
available, both direct and transit from Jakarta. On this trip, of course, I
took advantage of the time to explore Thai culinary delights, which have always
been my favorite.
One of the things that travelers pay attention to when
visiting Bangkok is the cuisine where the name Michelin Guide, an award event
given to culinary entrepreneurs, is one of the extraordinary tourist
attractions. Of course, there are many fine Michelin Star restaurants, but
don't miss the many food stalls with the Michelin Bib Gourmand award in this
city. Let's read further to find out what it is:
1. Somtum Khun Kan
The story begins with a small shop in Mueang Thong Tani,
thanks to which winning a som tum dish competition in 1999 made Khun Kan famous
among Bangkok locals. Khun Kan is one of the Michelin Bib Gourmand recommended
restaurants. The mandatory menu here is of course the very famous som tum,
papaya salad with a sour, fresh, and spicy taste that makes you addicted. They
also serve a variety of classic Thai dishes, one of which I tried was Roasted
Chicken with Herbs. A simple dish but indeed delicious, fragrant aroma, smoky
chicken, and just the right taste, quite different from typical Indonesian
grilled chicken that normally use soy sauce. For the location which is quite far from the central area of
Bangkok, you cannot make a reservation, another option is to order via
Grabfood.
One of the Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants with a typical
Chinese menu is the family background of the founder of this restaurant.
Likewise, with the interior concept, the area is not too large, and the feel of home
with classic poster decorations brings us nostalgia for a house. The menu is
very much like a family restaurant with Chinese dishes. One of the highlight
menus that you must try is Pickled Plum & Garlic Soup with Pork Meatballs.
Herbal aroma with fragrant gravy, comfort, and fresh broth taste. Then I tried
Shitake Cabbage Pork Ribs Soup, no less interesting. Pork rib soup with a mix
of different soup flavors, a thicker color, soft cabbage, and some baby tomatoes
that give a fresh sour taste. Don't forget to also try the Fried Prawn with
Tamarind Sauce. Shrimp with a portion for two people, tamarind sauce which is
quite thick, strong taste really enhances the taste. I went there during lunchtime, not too crowded, no tourists. Service is standard but quite fast. Approximately
900m walk from BTS Saphan Khwai.
This
restaurant is located quite a hidden gem in the surrounding building area. One
of Michelin Bib Gourmand's recommendations is interesting to try, as seen from
the crowds of visitors when I visited at dinner time. Thai Niyom is also a
simple restaurant serving various dishes which are family recipes. Uniquely
here we can enjoy one of Chiang-Mai Combo's mainstay menus, a platter dish with
grilled pork, crispy pork skin, and pork sausage, served with vegetables, and two
kinds of delicious and spicy Thai sauce. Apart from Chiang-Mai dishes, there is
also a Phuket menu, you know, Stir-fry Pork Belly with Shrimp Paste. Thinly
sliced pork belly is cooked with savory, sour, and salty spices, and spicy but
adds to the taste. The location of Thai Niyom is around a 120m walk from BTS
Phloem Chit.
A Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant is full of international
tourists. There is no doubt that the strategic location near the shopping
center area makes this restaurant always busy from morning to evening. Simple
concept and this restaurant has been in business for more than 60 years. A
classic chicken rice dish and served with a light soy sauce, vinegar and spicy
chilli. For me, the boiled chicken is quite bland, it would be even better if
enjoyed with soy sauce. As for the rice, it's ok, not too impressive compared
to chicken rice that I've tasted in other countries such as Singapore,
Malaysia, or even in Indonesia. For the price, a portion of chicken rice is
quite cheap, but maybe according to the price, the chicken rice is not too big.
Another dish is soy sauce pork, the meat is tender but the gravy is too runny
and doesn't absorb into the meat, once again for me it doesn't beat the soy
sauce pork dish which is home cooking, even at home I quite often enjoy the soy
sauce pork which is better.
Starting from word of mouth, from a cooking studio, Chef
Nhoi opened Bangkok Bold in the downtown area. The concept offered, as the name
suggests, is a bold or strong Thai flavor in dishes. The concept of a casual
restaurant looks striking with the painting of a rooster on the wall under the
name of the restaurant. The mandatory menu here is Stir Fried Pork &
Shrimp, a dish from Central Thailand, processed minced pork with a soft, creamy
egg, then the distinctive aroma of shrimp paste and a spicy and sour taste that
is delicious to be enjoyed with white rice. Then I also tried the recommended
menu, Shrimp Paste & Toasted Coconut Fried Rice with Shrimp. Ulala is another
spicy but highly addictive dish. The texture of the prawns is also perfectly
cooked. The location is inside the Central Embassy building on the ground
floor.
This restaurant, which is included in the Michelin Plate
recommendation, is located inside the Park Hyatt Bangkok Hotel. An elegant,
luxurious feel is evident from the entire interior of the Embassy Room. An area
with quite a lot of seating capacity with an open kitchen where we can see the
activities of the chefs. The menu available is a set menu or ala carte with the
concept of Catalan dishes. Because when I got there I had already enjoyed
dinner, so I only planned to taste of plenty the dishes. One of them, Tomà quets Pepino I aguacate, a salad with a few colorful tomatoes, then cucumber and
avocado. The presentation of the dish is beautiful and looks fresh, the citrus
flavor is a good choice as a starter, but unfortunately, the aroma and taste of
the avocado are strange and smell a bit unpleasant. The dish I tried next,
Amanica de Cranc, was no less interesting than its presentation. Chinese-style similar bao served with processed crab and Spanish Ajo Blanco. The bao has a slightly
soggy texture, while the blue crab is too smooth to be covered with a dominant Ajo Blanco flavor. The element for the flavors of these two dishes is quite
complex, but for me, it's less harmonious and not that spectacular. The taste of the
ingredients used is not as outstanding as I expected.
Back to the list of Michelin Bib Gourmand which is also
quite famous in Bangkok. This time, I only ordered food from the hotel via the
Grabfood application, which is more practical than having to go to the outlet,
especially in very hot Bangkok weather. Specialist for pork meatball noodles,
here you can choose the type of regular broth, tom yum, or dry noodles. Then
with various toppings from fish cake to pork intestines. Besides that,
recommendations for fish skin snacks. As soon as it was delivered to the hotel,
I immediately tasted it because soup is better consumed while it's hot. The
texture of the noodles is really good and soft, the pork meatballs and other
toppings are also delicious if you're a fan of pork innards, it's just that the tom yum sauce is a little weird
for me, with a sour taste that ends in bitterness and spiciness so unpleasant. Fish skin also smells fishy, it's quite ok, but I've
eaten better fish skin, of course.
Address:
10/1 Soi Sukhumvit 26, Khwaeng Khlong Tan, Khet Khlong Toei, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10110, Thailand
Opening Hours: 08.00-17.00
8. Nahm
With the choice of restaurants in Bangkok, it is also
mandatory to stop by the Michelin Star Restaurant. One of the recommendations is Nahm, which happened to be next door to the hotel where I was
staying. Nahm is a Thai restaurant that offers a tasteful Thai culinary
experience in a classy style. The interior is quite casual with wood elements
and dominant dark colors. There is an outdoor area overlooking the swimming
pool of the Como Hotel. However, the pool is only for in-house guests. Several set
menu options here depending on the number of dishes. I chose the Kanom Jim set,
there are 3 courses starting with canapes, a main course, and dessert. There is no
doubt that every dish served is truly delicious with quality ingredients. The
complex flavors of citrus, herbs, and strong seasonings blend harmoniously.
Kanom Jim itself is a fermented noodle dish that is like vermicelli but
thicker. Served with your choice of prawns or crab as a topping and a
moderately spicy curry paste.
Address:
โรงแรมโคโม เมโทรโพลิแทน กรุงเทพฯ 27 S Sathon Rd, Thung Maha Mek, Sathon, Bangkok 10120, Thailand
Opening Hours: 12.00-14.00 & 18.30-22.00
9. Nai Mong Hoi Tod
One of the most famous culinary delights in Thailand. For
clam seafood fans, it's tough to miss this culinary delight. Still, on the
Michelin Bib Gourmand list, every time you visit Chinatown, Nai Mong Hoi Tod is
always a Bangkok culinary destination. Hoi Thod (Fried Mussels) is a mainstay
of the menu here for more than 30 years. My favorite menu here is Crispy Oyster
Omelette which is available in 4 sizes from S to XL. For a portion of two
people, it might fit the size L. The dish already looks tempting when the
process is cooked on a large pan, the fragrant aroma matches the texture of the
omelet which is crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. And so many
fresh oysters are really satisfying. But if you are not a fan of oysters, maybe
you will smell a little of it.
The meaning of the name Yih Saph Luk is "Easy to
Cook" and is of Cantonese origin. Basically, this restaurant serves
braised-beef noodles as its flagship menu. However, according to the concept of
the Cantonese menu, there are many other dishes that are also quite a highlight,
such as rice bowls or bao. Listed on the Michelin Plate recommendation, 26
Braised Beef is also familiar to local Bangkok residents. My visit there was
on a hot sunny day, it looked still quiet. Not noodles, but I ordered the Braised
Beef Ricepot which is also a recommendation. The portion is quite a lot for 1
person, the aroma is fragrant, and the taste is sweet and savory, very different
from Thai cuisine in general. The tender beef is simply delicious and served
with green vegetables for balance. Due to the Cantonese concept, bao snacks are
also a must, like Hotate Bao which is one of the recommendations. Well, the
crunchy and soft texture of the bao is combined, and the unique sauce has a
slightly sour, thick, and spicy taste. Also served separately when ordering rice pot.
Who hasn't tried Mango Sticky Rice when they've been to
Thailand? Must have tried before. But have you ever heard of the Mango Sticky Rice, which is
recommended by the Michelin Guide and has become a regular order at the Grand Palace
in Thailand and has been operating for more than 80 years? Simple shop not far
from Bangkok's Chinatown area. The mandatory menu is definitely Mango Sticky
Rice, no doubt here I can enjoy super legit mango sticky rice, with a sweet taste, and
perfect texture. The mangoes are more or less the same as the others and we
know that the quality of the mangoes in Thailand is really good. Eating on the spot is indeed better, it's just that there are a few seats.
One of the recommended Michelin Bib Gourmand Thai food stalls, it has been legendary and open for more than 50 years. The location is in the Yaowarat area, Bangkok which is indeed a favorite destination for both tourists and locals. Don't be surprised, the scene of the crowd that is always packed here is normal. Even though the place is very decent and considered quite messy, people come to enjoy kway chap, a Teochew specialty noodle soup with wide sheets of rice, served in soup and various offal, pork belly, and hard-boiled eggs. The taste of the soup is salty, strong pepper is quite unique. Well, if you are an innards lover, you might enjoy this dish, because almost all of the contents of the kway chap topping are full of pork innards.
It doesn't feel like time has passed quickly and the season for

Back to writing a blog, okay while I had time to break after
the festive season in last December 2022. In 2023, of course, I hope to be
able to actively blog again with the latest and interesting information that I
think is memorable to convey. So like this bar that just opened in the Pantai
Indah Kapuk area of Jakarta. Phoenix Gastrobar, a new concept presented by HWG,
is one of the newest brands by the pioneers in the restaurant, bar, and club industry today.
Next to each other between the two clubs presented before, are Tiger &
Dragon Bar. The concept offered at Phoenix is completely different from
previous HWG outlets. First I'll say the interior is absolutely stunning, with 3 story bar & lounge with stairs that reminds me of Hogwarts, the school in
the Harry Potter movies. There is a DJ booth in the main area, a fountain that
gives an elegant impression, and a bar station with a magnificent display rack of dozens of liquor.
If you have frequently visited HWG clubs before, maybe you
are not familiar with the cocktail menu. It's different here, you will find a
variety of craft cocktails that are full of aesthetics from their
presentation. For interesting cocktails like Forefather Negroni, negroni drinks
are uncommon with a combination of smoky rice grains and spices to produce a
distinctive aroma. Tower of Fantasy looks like a magical drink.
Apart from cocktails, different menu concepts are also
available here. A variety of modern twist dishes from Western to Asian styles.
Appetizers like Stuffed Phoenix Wingettes (Rp 88,000), minced meat wrapped in
chicken wings with lapciong, and sweet and sour plum sauce are really
delicious. Tender Wagyu Beef Cheek (Rp. 248,000) with tasty beef jus, of course, premium quality beef. Or Chicken Tandoori Skewer (Rp 98,000) with a unique
presentation. Not to forget the beautiful Pineapple Carpaccio dessert (Rp.
68,000), the fresh taste of a combination of pineapple, orange peel, and basil
sorbet is the perfect finishing.
It's a really memorable experience visiting Phoenix where
you can feel a very different and amazing bar ambiance. Don't forget to take
photos from every aesthetic angle. For the price offered, following the concept
of a premium bar & lounge in the Pantai Indah Kapuk area, maybe Rp. 200K-500K
per person. There will be a minimum charge at night and during certain events.
It's better if you make a reservation in advance.

Phoenix Gastrobar,
Ruko Golf Island, Jl. Pantai Indah Kapuk No.183, Indonesia
Talking Korean BBQ is certainly not something new to Jakarta
residents. Currently, we can find a wide selection of Korean grill restaurants
from casual to all-you-can-eat at very affordable prices. But don't forget, for
dishes made from meat ingredients, especially beef, the quality will be the main thing to
pay attention to. There is a price of course there is quality.
Surasang, you can guess from the name that this is a Korean
restaurant. Located on Pantai Indah Kapuk, Jakarta, which is one of the most
popular culinary destinations. Surasang just opened its outlet on 31st Oct 2022.
However, on my previous visit there some areas of the restaurant are still
under construction and I did not take some of the interior pictures. But you can see below, there is so much elegant touch, the golden colour throughout the restaurant show it is high-end dining including with a bar.
Therefore, I will immediately tell you about the dishes in
Surasang. The concept of this restaurant is quite common, namely the Korean
grill house which is quite popular with the Jakarta community. But here
Surasang offers Korean bbq at a more premium level with imported meat
ingredients from the US, Spain, and even Japan which we know are premium beef producing.
Like Korean restaurants in general, guests will be served banchan, side dishes such as kimchi, jorim, namul, etc. Each table
is equipped with a modern grill machine with smoke suction through the bottom of the table so the heat doesn't interfere. For meat choices, beef and pork are available,
ranging from ribs, wagyu, porterhouse, wet aging, and dry aging to Japanese Kobe at
fantastic prices.
Some of the menus that I tried, such as the Wagyu
Chateaubriand (IDR 1,300,000), the most tender part of the tenderloin with a
medium rare level recommended by the chef, a tender and
juicy meat. Each guest will be assisted by the staff to the grill so you
don't have to bother doing it yourself, but if you want to increase the cooking level of the meat, you are welcome to grill it yourself.
Pork dishes like Pork Belly (IDR 165,000) or Marinated Pork
Shoulder (IDR 155,000) are no less interesting. It feels incomplete if you go
to a Korean grill restaurant but don't enjoy pork. Basically, I'm not a pork
lover, but as I said, there is a price for the quality as pork imported from
Spain has a very tender texture and a fragrant aroma.
Other authentic Korean dishes such as Seafood Sundubu Jigae
(IDR 125,000), Japchae (IDR 120,000) can be found here. Overall, I personally
am not too expert with Korean dishes because I have never been there, but when
compared to most Korean restaurants which tend to be savory and spicy, Surasang
serves Korean dishes with a more smooth, savory, and sweet taste.
Although I'm not sure how Korean food actually tastes, I'm
sure the Korean grill experience at Surasang was memorable. As a fan of
high-end dining, this is the first time I have come across a premium Korean
Grill House option with amazing ingredients. If you have the opportunity to go
there, maybe you know more about Korean cuisine, you can try and tell me how
the experience was.

It's been a pretty exciting week in October with the arrival of a
chef from a 2 Michelin Star restaurant in Japan to be precise in Kanazawa, a regional capital on main Honshu island. Chef
Shinichiro Takagi, from Zeniya is a legacy from his late father. On this
occasion, chef Takagi-san collaborated with Oku Japanese Restaurant to offer
the experience of enjoying the dishes by Michelin Star restaurant chefs that we have
often heard about in the global cuisine world.
This week I chose lunch with a 4 course set menu on
Saturday. Well, even in this special chef week, Oku Restaurant still provides a
regular menu for guests. Let's go straight to the menu that I tried this time
starting with the appetizer, Sakizuke. It's one of the popular Kaiseki dishes
which is arguably the Amuse-Bouche in France. A beautiful pan-seared tuna dish
with a mixture of chili vinegar. The soft texture of tuna with fresh sour dressing
and edible leaves provides a balance of taste.
Followed by Shiizikana (main course), one of the main dishes
at lunch this time, Wagyu Beef Jibuni. Using quality Japanese beef, with soft
and delicious fat marbling. Served with tofu, watercress, carrots, and shitake
mushrooms. Then combined with a thick sauce, this Jibuni technique is one of
the traditional food styles in Kanazawa, Japan. Complete with wasabi stirred
into the sauce gives a different sensation.
The next dish is Gohan (rice) with Chirashi Sushi which of
course is familiar to Japanese culinary connoisseurs. For this dish, it is
quite common and indeed the sashimi ingredients used are the key to this dish.
Consists of several fish such as salmon, maguro, hamachi, and shimaji. I
think the dish doesn't need much explanation, good quality sashimi, and the right
cut. What is interesting about this dish is complete with Tamago which has a
smooth texture, and a sweet and savory taste.
The final dish was dessert with Purple Sweet Potato Mont
Blanc. A dish with a fairly simple taste, the sweet taste of sweet potato with
the shape of noodles swirling soft cream inside, complete with silver leaf on
top. Balanced sweetness blends perfectly when enjoyed together.
Every dish that I tried this time really gave me the experience
of enjoying traditional Japanese food with a touch of modern presentation. Chef Takagi, he also provides several modern innovations in his
cuisine, following the current culinary era that continues to develop. However,
it still retains the traditional taste which is the root of the dish.

Finally, after a few months, I'm back to filling out articles on
this blog. Since I'm currently recovering from a lung infection medication has had a
major impact on my activities. This time I will tell you about the experience of
having dinner at a restaurant located in the newest luxury 5-star hotel in
Jakarta, Park Hyatt Jakarta.
This hotel just started operating in the middle of this
year, there are several restaurant outlets that you can try as well as bars
& lounges. The overall elegant interior concept uses dark tones and looks
simple but full of luxury, artistic lights and charming decorations.
This time I visited the Conservatory, located on the main
lobby floor, a restaurant with several areas, a library, living room, patisserie
and veranda. Each area offers a different concept and atmosphere. This time my
dinner experience was in the living room, the charming dining area, the bar
table in the middle, the sparkling chandeliers and if you get a good sitting
spot, you can get a nice view of Monas.
Here there are various international menus like hotels in
general. It looks simple but the taste and quality are unquestionable. I tried a
few dishes such as the Slow Roasted Duck Breast, a tender, flavourful piece of
duck served with apple slices, and a delicate pea sauce.
Or beef lovers, try Steak Frites, rib eye with a simple
presentation, french fries, butter on top, and salad. But when it comes to beef,
the quality must be good, it's a fantastic dish. It feels here, the quality of
the ingredients used is good, the steak is tender with melted butter, rich in
taste, and satisfying.
For the price, you can guess for a luxury 5-star hotel, well
even though it's high around IDR 200,000 - IDR 800,000 for main dishes, there are
indeed hotels with higher prices. However, in accordance with the concept,
simplicity, and luxury are felt in this restaurant both from the atmosphere and good
service. Curious? Let's find out!

The chance to visit Bali more comfortably has arrived as I have completed the Covid 19 vaccine so that the rules for making
domestic flights are easier without quarantine and tests. But of course, we
still have to carry out health protocols, always wear masks, and provide hand
sanitizer. Since I haven't been to Bali in a long time, I decided to spend 10
days here. Besides that, the development of F&B and trends in Bali is
indeed moving fast, so there are many places that I have never visited.
Well, this time I share some locations that you can visit
from legendary eateries, cafes, and restaurants, to interesting and
instagramable tourist attractions for sure. Since there are quite a few, and
some places only have videos, please be understandable that the info will be updated
several times for this article. Here's a list of Bali sightseeing to find out:
1. Milk & Madu
Cafe recommendations for breakfast and brunch can be found
here. A variety of modern Australian Western breakfast menus are available at
the Ubud branch of Milk & Honey. In the morning, the guests were crowded
and dominated by foreign tourists. You can enjoy coffee, tea, juice, smoothies, and interestingly pizza. As for the drink, it's probably quite common in Bali,
which is famous for its coffee and various healthy drinks. But if it's the
pizza I can say you guys have to try it. Pizza Got Beef Ese, with a soft dough
texture, savory minced beef, salsa, jalapeno, and thick mozzarella is delicious,
especially when it's hot. But no worry, the hot weather in Bali can hold the pizza hot for a while.
2. Radja Seafood Cafe Jimbaran
Seafood fans are definitely familiar with the Jimbaran area
in Bali. A location where you can find a wide selection of seafood restaurants
on Jimbaran beach. So many choices that you can be confused about which one to
choose. This time I can recommend Radja Seafood, like the others they serve a
variety of seafood from fish, prawns, squids, clams, and even lobster. One of the must menus is the Jimbaran seasoned grilled clams. The overall seafood
served is satisfying, the texture of the prawn is tender, sweet, smoky fish,
crunchy squid, and clams with the generous Jimbaran seasoning. The service was
quite fast but maybe not too crowded when I was there. For a fairly standard
price, the restaurant is full of tourists. The five of us spent IDR 1.2 million and we were super full.
3. Mari Beachclub
Always a good idea for travelers in Bali to see the
sunset in the late afternoon. The Canggu area is one of the favorites where there
are various beach clubs with modern interior concepts and stunning beach scenes.
Mari Beachclub is one of the areas that has just started operating and is quite
a trend lately. You can go there through the advance reservation, especially for
large groups, you can also walk in. Seat starts from the free minimum, such as
table dining or the couch area on the beach. In addition, other tables can
range from IDR 500,000 for two people to 2 million for 8 people. The menu
concept is quite similar to other clubs which offer a variety of international
dishes from Western to Asian. Of course, there are cocktails and summer drinks
available.
4. Rumari
One of the current trending restaurants in Bali. Located at
Raffles Bali which is a standard 5-star luxury hotel in the Jimbaran beach area
with a premium and private spot. Rumari serves a variety of contemporary dishes
with a blend of local and international techniques and ingredients. You will
taste a variety of dishes with French techniques but with mouth-watering local
flavors. The opportunity to visit yesterday I tried Easter brunch, a
semi-outdoor area with views of Jimbaran beach, it was really fun. Interactive
menu variants, diverse elements, and beautiful presentation. For this Easter
Brunch, I spent IDR 1,050,000 per person with the classic option. There are
luxury packages available at higher prices. A pleasant experience, you can eat
satisfied with a variety of dishes, super friendly and fast service according
to luxury hotel standards. It's just that the weather is very hot during the
day makes me keep sweating during lunch.
5. Cafe Kim Soo
Hot days in Bali make you always want to hang out while
enjoying cold drinks and desserts. An interesting cafe recommendation this time
is in the Kerobokan area, Kuta which is an area full of cafes, restaurants, and
bars. From the outside, there is a large enough outdoor space with a dominant
white color throughout the place. The Kim Soo logo with a gold coating is an
interesting spot for photos. Cafe Kim Soo is located along with Kim Soo Home
which is a furniture and merchandise store with natural materials such as wood,
rattan, and stone. One of my recommendations is Carrot Cake which looks simple
but has an amazing taste. The texture is rustic and homey also sweet just right.
The aroma of carrots is really appetizing. Other menus include modern
specialties from salads, smoothies, and toast bread to Indonesian flavors. The
price offered is quite high and there are quite a lot of foreign guests, for
you to eat and drink maybe around IDR 100K-200K per person.
6. Neon Palms
Going to the next door, sliding a little there is a cafe
with a building that is quite attractive. Bright colors with a cheerful summer
atmosphere. Neon Palms is a clothing and accessories store available for women
and men with the theme of summer clothes with colorful patterns. While on the
second-floor area there is a cafe & bar with a semi-outdoor concept, the
colorful patterns in the whole area make this place really attractive. The menu
offered is a variety of modern twist dishes and one of the mainstay menus is a
variety of tapas. A variety of one bite tapas can be a perfect snack in the
afternoon accompanied by a fresh cold cocktail. In a pandemic condition that
was quite severe so this restaurant experienced a huge impact based on one of
the staff's info. The prices offered are quite affordable, especially since
they offer various promos from buy one get one tapas, as well as cocktail
promos.
7. Cretya Ubud
Moving to the Ubud area, an area that is also famous and familiar. Cretya is quite popular on social media with its stunning
terraced pool. The restaurant area is very spacious, from indoor and outdoor,
cabanas, to sofas by the pool. In addition, guests will be pampered with views
of the green and spacious rice fields. Order food here I tried the seafood
platter which looked interesting. Various seafood, shrimp, squid, and shellfish
grilled with special Jimbaran spices are really delicious. In addition, the
overall ingredients used are also of good quality. For cabanas, there is a minimum
of IDR 250,000 with 1 free towel, for some other seating the minimum is free
and you can rent towels for IDR 50,000 per towel.
8. Alma Tapas Bar
This typical Spanish restaurant is located in the Canggu
area. The street looks quite dark at night, yellow lights are visible in front
of the restaurant and there are quite a lot of cars parked. Restaurant with a
classic and rustic feel complete with a bar in the front area. The mainstay
menu here is in the form of various tapas with many choices from chicken,
beef, and seafood to vegetarian. Some of the menus that I tried were Pulpo A La
Plancha, octopus with creamy potatoes, chorizo oil, and tobiko caviar.
Chorizo, sausage topped with apple slices, is enjoyed with onion puree into a
delectable dish. There's also sangria in Spanish style, and there a buy one get one promo when I was there. Standard prices range from IDR
150,000 to IDR 300,000 per person to enjoy food and drinks here.
9. Burgreens Canggu
It is undeniable, vegetarian food, superfood has indeed
become a trend that is very enthusiastic for travelers in Bali. You can find
thousands of places to eat in Bali that offer vegetarian menus and one of them
is Burgreens, located in the popular Canggu area, with a location on the side
of the road so it's easy to see when passing by. With a semi-outdoor concept, a
large capacity with a mezzanine, then the back area with a view of the rice
fields can be an interesting photo spot. You can find plant-based food variants
with various flavors from international, Asian, Indonesian and even Balinese.
Apart from heavy meals, various desserts and drinks can also be enjoyed here.
10. Sensorium
Restaurants that are currently popular are still in the Canggu
area. A restaurant with a menu of modern-flavored ramen. I happened to heard this restaurant from a friend, when I got there there was a queue of several
people and I had to wait for about 20-30 minutes. The area is not too big and
the visitors are busy at lunch time. Recommended menu such as the modern
Australian-style Brunch Ramen Soup, a bowl of noodles with sliced chicken
roulade, mushrooms, daikon, onsen eggs and served with separate dashi sauce. Or
you can try Brunch Ramen - Dry, a unique taste sensation of noodles with minced
meat, sesame and cucumber slaw. The creamy and savory taste blends into
one so that it is rich in flavor in 1 dish. Don't imagine Japanese-style ramen
because Sensorium is not a Japanese restaurant. Even though it's unique, I
still prefer Japanese ramen, at least this can be a unique experience option.
11. Samesa
The idea is quite interesting when you find the no.1
restaurant in Bali based on Tripadvisor rating. Samesa is also in the Canggu
area, the concept offered by this restaurant is very interesting where you will
enjoy dinner with strangers that you have never met before at one table. Dinner
style with a sense of togetherness just like family at home. Various
home-cooked Italian dishes are served sequentially from appetizer and main course
to dessert. It's a pretty fun experience when you get to know new people from
Indonesia to foreign countries. This dinner experience will take about 3-4
hours, and free-flow limoncello drinks all night. However, bad and inappropriate
booking information, which should include water and tea after dessert, instead
we have to pay as usual. Food is fine like classic home cooking with
mediocre taste standards. The memorable thing here is just the experience
of meeting new people. The price is quite high where you can spend IDR
500,000++ per person not including drinks.
12. Kudeta
Located in the Kuta beach area which is indeed a favorite destination for tourists. In a very large area with an outdoor concept, cushion
chairs, cabanas, and restaurant chairs are available as usual. The pool
overlooking the beach is a special spot, especially at sunset in the afternoon.
Quite a pleasant place to spend the afternoon before dinner, they serve a
variety of interesting cocktails and a selection of international dishes in a
modern style. Unfortunately, the service is very bad, especially when staff
asks for a credit card as a guarantee before ordering, while other guests,
especially foreign tourists, don't seem to have that kind of treatment.
After a while, I finally had the opportunity to visit
Bali in new normal conditions. On this occasion, I received the good news that the
Raffles hotel has been operating in Bali in the Jimbaran area. This luxury
hotel with a villa concept is located on the edge of a private Jimbaran beach
so that it provides an exclusive and comfortable atmosphere. Offers guests to
stay in a villa with a natural setting and stunning sea views.
On this visit, I was there on Easter week, a chance to stop by Rumari, the main
restaurant located in the lobby area offering an Easter Brunch experience held on April 15, 2022. You can choose an outdoor or indoor area,
well you could say the weather conditions in Bali are very hot, so it makes me
quite sweaty at lunch. Guess I am not used to the hot air in Bali yet.
At this Easter Brunch, guests are served a variety of
dishes with a by-order concept and a complete menu of recommendations from the
chef is available from amuse bouche, main menu to dessert and petit four. Each
menu is presented with a beautiful presentation, tempting and attractive. A touch of complex elements in each dish provides a variety of
harmonious flavors.
The Easter Brunch experience this time was very satisfying,
more than a dozen menus that I tried were full of surprises. Most of the choices I tried were recommendations from the chef, but for those of you who
want to try other menus, they are also available. In addition, there is also a
pass-around menu that will approach each guest's table alternately starting from
a choice of cold cuts, cheese, and fresh drinks.
Each
guest will be pampered with an exclusive dining experience both from the
atmosphere and excellent service. Each staff can explain the dishes well and
the serving time is quite fast. In hot weather conditions, the waiter also
helps by providing an extra fan to make it more comfortable.
The
Easter Brunch experience in Rumari was very impressive, starting from the first
thing when entering the Raffles Bali area, a very exclusive service since we
entered the private spot of Raffles Bali. It's a good idea to make a reservation
in advance because it's not allowed for anyone to enter this area if you don't
have a certain appointment. This is certainly a privilege for Raffles Bali guests to
enjoy special services. Come visit when traveling to Bali, feel welcome to enjoy the exquisite vacation and wonderful dining while enjoying the perfect scene of the sea.

Cool vacation this time I stay at The Hermitage Hotel in the Central Jakarta area. This hotel has always been one of my
favorites with a classic and vintage feel because the hotel building is full of
history. The location is in the Menteng area, and the atmosphere is calmer away from the hustle and bustle. The building is white, from the exterior to the interior. The classic
style is evident throughout the hotel, the ornaments and decorations are used to give
an atmosphere of taking us back to old times.
The amazing side of the lobby is the enchanting staircase which is one of the best photo spots. The hotel area, it is pretty compact, like
a boutique hotel with a luxurious and elegant feel. I will introduce the room
this time the Studio Suite. The room is quite large with an area of 50 sqm,
equipped with a living room, king bed, shower room, and bathtub facing the
window.
Take a look comfortable atmosphere with the dominant white
color, classic sofas, chairs and tables, pattern color carpets, and some Indonesian
touch decorations. The bathroom area is spacious, clean, and tidy, then the dressing
table and sink in a vintage style are really beautiful, it feels like a
European-style house. Bathtub in the corner of the room, you can enjoy a
relaxed atmosphere while looking at the scenery outside.
This 5-star standard hotel is of course equipped with gym
facilities and also a swimming pool on the top floor. In addition, there are
several restaurant areas such as 1928 which is all-day dining with a
charming interior concept, then La Vue Rooftop Bar, the sensation of enjoying a
dining experience while looking at the view of the city of Jakarta from a
height. To relax in the afternoon or enjoy delicious cocktails, you can go to
the Hermitage Lounge, a classic gentleman concept that is very interesting for chill and photos. There is also a Courtyard area, but it hasn't been operational for a
while at the time of my visit. Usually, this area can also be used for private
events.
The experience of staying at The Hermitage Hotel is always
memorable. A classic-style hotel with a charming interior offers a friendly and
comfortable staycation experience. In addition, you can also enjoy Guardian
services like a butler who will always help with information and needs while at
the hotel, thank you to Clara who lends any information about the hotel. Lastly, for Studio Suite room price info starting from IDR 2,200,000
++.

It is a valuable experience when a chef from a Michelin star
restaurant is present in the city of Jakarta. In this season, The Langham Jakarta is a 5-star luxury hotel with elegant interiors throughout the area.
Tom's by Tom Aikens, a classy restaurant on the 62nd floor of the Langham
Jakarta hotel. The Jakarta community is certainly pleased with the arrival of
chef Tom from Muse, a restaurant with a Michelin Star award in London.
For restaurant information, you can check the article below,
my first experience visiting this restaurant was when it was just opening.
The Langham
Jakarta presents a dining concept with chef Tom this week from 22-26 April
2022. On this occasion, I tried the Sunday Roast experience on 24 April 2022.
This Sunday event seems guests are filling up the restaurant area. The concept of
lunch this time, guests are served with a set menu of 3 courses each.
The starters that I tried this time were Foie Gras &
Chicken Liver Parfait, Grape Chutney, and French Brioche. The combination of
foie gras and chicken liver with a soft mousse-like texture matches the parfait
concept, a smoother taste that is pleasant to enjoy with sweet and sour chutney
grape jam on top of crunchy brioche. The next starter is Yellow Ceviche, made
of fresh fish with thin slices, combined with sour pickles and sliced agave
giving it a fresh taste. Good consistency of sliced fish, the right aroma is
really an appetizing starter.
The main menu that I tried, such as Prime Rib Roast, is a favorite dish that we often enjoy in typical British restaurants. From the
presentation to the simple taste of steak, classic without garnish is the
hallmark of Tom's. With US beef ingredients, for me, the taste is too strong and fatty so I don't really, enjoy it. Of course, this goes back to your preferences.
Then there's Chilean Seabass, this Chilean fish usually found in high-end
restaurants. Served with a thick sauce, the creamy and sour taste enhances the
flavor.
In this part of the main course, guests are served with a
variety of side dishes such as Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Potatoes, Roast
Heritage Carrots, and Fine Beans to provide a balanced taste when enjoying the main
course. A variety of classic British food, simple but delicious, especially the
crispy and sweet Roast Carrots.
For
dessert, I chose Vanilla Cheesecake with Raspberry. The presentation color of the cheesecake is whiter, and the taste is smoother, quite different from
cheesecake in general. Then there's the Apple Almond Tart, it's one of the
famous British classics. Crispy pastry texture and sweet caramelized apple can be enjoyed with lemon
sorbet so that it gives a balanced taste.
A pleasant experience to be able to enjoy a variety of
British specialties and classic flavors with a modern presentation. Dishes are not
too complex, various ingredients with standard seasoning provide an experience
to enjoy the original taste of these ingredients. The service at the
beginning was quite good, the welcome was friendly, the time for serving
food was fast, it was just that a few points of the staff lacked knowledge
about the dishes, and some of the pronunciation of the food was needed to practice more.

Fans of Japanese cuisine are certainly familiar with the term Omakase, this Japanese-style set menu is very popular, especially when
talking about premium Japanese-style restaurants. Now, this time I introduce
the omakase set offered by Furusato Izakaya, a Japanese restaurant in Jakarta
with a charming vibe. The Japanese atmosphere is really felt in the entire
interior from the ground floor to the second floor with a semi-outdoor area and
several private rooms.
The omakase menu this time with the concept of sushi dishes
served by chef Shinichiro Takada, a genuine Japanese chef who certainly
understands Japanese dishes. This set menu is priced at IDR 650,000++ per
person. The menu served consists of 6 parts of the menu starting from the
appetizer, Mackerel Nanbanzuke. Using local ingredients, mackerel fish,
marinated with ginger and onions, then fried. Crispy on the outside and soft
on the inside with the perfect savory taste.
Then proceed with the sashimi dish, 3 types of fish are used
namely, Salmon, Baby Tuna, and Grouper. While salmon and tuna sashimi may be
very common, what about grouper sashimi? This fish is familiar with steam or
sweet and sour dishes in Indonesia, but it turns out that it can also be processed
into sashimi, with a distinctive aroma, fiber pieces that are more complex than
salmon.
Then Chawanmushi, maybe some of you already know about this
dish. The taste of comfort with stuffed shrimp, chicken, and mushrooms is really
delicious enjoyed while warm. After that, we just entered the sushi dish with
10 kinds, starting from Pomfret Fish with Ginger, Calamari with Salted Squid
Ink, and Wagyu Aburi. My favorite is the wagyu sushi, the sliced meat looks
tempting, the smell of smoky torch, the tenderness, and the right seasoning.
The sushi dish continued with Mantis Shrimp, Grouper with
Yuzu Kosho topping (Fermented chili paste ingredients with yuzu and salt), and Sillago marinated with vinegar and grated ginger topping. Back to
using grouper which is identical to Indonesian dishes, but this time it becomes
sushi certainly provide a different experience.
Next to sushi dish, Mackerel with Nori and Sesame Seeds, Black
Tiger Shrimp, Tamagoyaki Chiffon, and Tako Makisushi Roll. A unique sushi dish
using mackerel, half-cooked and soft in texture. Tamagoyaki chiffon is also
attractive with a shape resembling a chiffon cake, puffy, and a sweet-savory taste.
If usually miso soup is served at the beginning
of the set menu, here miso will be served after the sushi dish. It may also be
a dish for cleansing after enjoying a variety of foods. After that, it was
followed by dessert, Shiratama Zenzai, red bean soup with chewy mochi.
The omakase experience at Furusato Izakaya was quite memorable.
Enjoying a variety of dishes made by a real Japanese chef certainly gives an
authentic taste. In addition, chef Takada-San also serves different dishes with
a touch of local Indonesian ingredients, of course, fresh and good quality.
Eating omakase under the price of Rp 1,000K is certainly affordable. Let's find out Japanese-style premium dining and quality at Furusato Izakaya.

Sudirman Suites Apartment, Jl Jend Sudirman No.36, Jakarta Pusat.
A
favorite destination for the Jakarta community, which is famous for its hawker
centers, from street food, restaurants to elegant lounge bars. This week,
another good news for restaurant and bar fans, Black Owl is back in operation
from the previous location in the PIK 1 area, now they are presented new location with
a different concept.
As soon as you pass through this area, you can clearly see
the Black Owl with a black building with an owl logo on it. Seen the parking
area is quite large and still not too crowded during the day. Once inside, we
will pass through a hallway with a very high ceiling. My suggestion is it's best to make a
reservation in advance to save your table.
Black Owl comes with a restaurant and bar concept, a very
stunning interior with dominant dark colors such as black and dark wooden
material throughout the large room. The dim lights look calm and elegant, and
what's amazing is the giant LCD screen that stretches to the ceiling. There is
an area on the second floor with several private rooms.
At first glance, this may seem like a bar-restaurant in
general which is identical with a variety of cocktails, beer, or any spirit and simple food.
But make no mistake, Black Owl provides a variety of gourmet dishes to an
impressive standard. Various dishes are served with stunning presentation, good
quality ingredients with an international taste. Menus such as the Bone Marrow
Bourguignon (Rp 185,000++) with bone marrow pieces served with tender beef brisket cooked with red wine sauce are truly delicious.
Or the Bathing Lobster(Rp 19 5,000++) with a tempting
appearance, a garlic butter rice dish with mozzarella cheese, and of course
abundant lobster cubes and the right level of texture. The overall taste of the
dish is very impressive with good ingredients, nice cooking technique, and
seasoning that is just right. Apart from that, the elegantly served dessert
also offers a pleasant taste sensation.
Dishes
such as Naked Tiramisu (Rp 115,000++) are served with an interesting show,
various elements from tiramisu cream, coffee jelly, almond crumble, chocolate
sponge, salted caramel Baileys ice cream and don't forget brandy which makes
the tiramisu cream melt and can be enjoyed with other elements together to get
the harmony of taste.
Black Owl offers a dining experience that looks elegant, not
only concerned with the bar or club business but here guests are invited to be
able to enjoy a variety of premium dishes in the style of high-end restaurants.
Of course, you can also enjoy a comfortable bar atmosphere, have dinner with
live music that is available every day. Interesting enough? Time for a reservation.

Good news for the Jakarta community, there will be a new
restaurant at Langham Jakarta soon, a luxury hotel with an elegant concept and
international 5-star hotel standards. If previously I visited Tom's Jakarta, a
British concept restaurant with an amazing gentle interior, this time Alice is
also pretty stunning with a more feminine theme.
With the concept of white color throughout the interior, the
feel of England, the high ceiling, the floor with the black-white pattern is
really enchanting. The new Alice will operate from March 9th, 2022, of course
with the new normal protocol standard. It's a good idea to make a reservation
in advance before visiting there because usually, the enthusiasm of the Jakarta
community is very high for new restaurants or dining.
The
menu offered at Alice is in the form of a variety of international dishes, especially
a touch of England because we know that Langham is a brand that started in
London in 1865. Some interesting menus to try include Spicy Tuna Tartines,
processed tuna confit with avocado, gochujang, mustard, and nori flakes on a
fluffy sourdough. The powerful taste of this mixture really pamper the palate,
creamy and slightly spicy
Then there is the Spinach Ricotta Ravioli, a dish that is
quite familiar, the ravioli with spinach as the main ingredient, the signature
ricotta cheese, and a thick pesto sauce. The texture of al dente ravioli, generous spinach. Or you should try the New York Burger with Swiss cheese and truffle
aioli. A soft, slightly rough handmade bun with a crunchy texture, a premium
beef patty, juicy and tender, and a fragrant and delicious blend of truffle
aioli.
The brunch experience here is indeed quite memorable. Enjoy
a variety of premium dishes and a good standard of processing ingredients into
delicious dishes. Coupled with enjoying the elegant and comfortable interior
atmosphere is really fun. You can also enjoy afternoon tea with a selection of
interesting sweet dishes to try or even a glass of champagne. Don't forget to take lots of photos around the
area to the corner of the restaurant, of course, instagramable. Go there and
tell me what do you think?!

The story this time is about a restaurant in the Central Jakarta
area which has been around for a long time. But they had closed for about 2
years in the moment of renovations to renew the interior of the restaurant.
Shanghai Blue 1920 is a Chinese Peranakan restaurant with an enchanting classic
interior concept. It looks from the exterior to the interior with the
appearance of a beautiful bar station and a ceiling painted with sky views.
Bright colors throughout the room to chairs with carved
flowers look beautiful. Classic ornaments are found all around the corner of
the restaurant, one of which is that the old Chinese-style chairs look unique.
Then the spiral staircase is in accordance with the concept of ancient buildings.
After not operating for a long time, Shanghai Blue 1920 is back
with a new concept in terms of interior, new menu, and new chef. Chef Ashiung is
from Malaysia so it fits perfectly with the Chinese Peranakan menu concept. The
menu that I tried this time consisted of several familiar Asian dishes such as
Crispy Oat Squid, Kung Pao Chicken, Sweet Sour Tilapia, Cai Po Tofu, and 3 Eggs Vegetable.
You may find this dish in typical Chinese Asian restaurants
in general. Compared to a Chinese restaurant with an original concept,
Shanghai Blue 1920 shows more Peranakan dishes with a different touch. My
favorite Crispy Oat Calamari is served well, the quality of the squid is good,
the crispy layer is not too thick and not oily. The squid texture is just right.
For some dishes, such as tofu cai po and sweet and sour
tilapia, it's little lacks flavor, for tofu cai po which is less concentrated sauce, while the
sweet and sour sauce of tilapia is less flavorful even though the texture of
the fish is very soft and doesn't smell fishy, but it's kinda plain.
The overall experience of having lunch here is quite
pleasant. Various dishes are quite familiar to us, the taste is according
to the tastes of the Jakarta community. In addition, you can also feel the
classic and ancient Chinese-style nuances which are very slick. Don't forget to
take interesting photos for social media content.

After a few weeks of not writing articles, this time I will
introduce a typical Hong Kong restaurant that has just started operating at the
end of 2021. Canton 108 is located in one of the trending shopping malls, Astha
District 8 which tends to be crowded, especially on weekends. Canton 108
carries the concept of a Chinese restaurant with a modern Hong Kong style. A
fairly large area with a high ceiling, equipped with a bar, a touch of bold,
solid colors, especially gold and blue.
In addition, there is a private room with a different
interior touch, chandeliers, and wall partitions with paintings of elegant
Chinese nuances. One of the things that amazed me, is usually the concept of
the color of a Chinese restaurant is red or gold, now in Canton 108 the blue
color is quite dominant and still gives an exclusive impression.
One of the recommended dishes is the Signature Har Gow Sampler
(Rp 250.000++) which consists of 3 types of har gow with different toppings,
namely prawn har gow (蝦餃) with caviar, prawn har gow with goose liver, and prawn har gow with black truffle. Beautiful presentation with various har gow colors, complex
flavors give each har gow a different character.
The next unique menu is Crab Meat Fried Rice with Flying
Fish Roe (Rp 275,000++). Hong Kong fried rice with bright colors and fish roe
dishes give a dazzling touch of orange color. The taste is quite familiar, it
is quite common for crab fried rice but the presence of tobiko enhances the
taste of the interesting scent of the sea.
Spicy lovers can try Fried Mala Chicken with Magic Chili (Rp
130,000++). This is one of the dishes that is quite trending at Chinese
restaurants in Jakarta. A simple fried chicken dish combined with chili mala
and typical Chinese spices. The aroma is fragrant, the chicken is crispy, it's
just that the mala is less strong and not spicy enough as I expected.
Rib Eye Beef with Black Pepper sauce(Rp 195,000++) is a
favorite dish at Chinese restaurants in general. In accordance with the
concept, Canton 108 serves beef dishes with premium quality ingredients
according to Jakarta's society. Tender and beef, are easy to cut and
convenient to eat. The taste is quite common with black pepper beef in
general, the thick sauce goes well with white rice.
For the overall taste, Canton 108 offers the experience of
enjoying a variety of Hong Kong dishes but with a touch of modern taste and
adapting to the Jakarta community. You can't compare it to a Chinese shop in
the North Jakarta or West Jakarta area. After all, please note that Hong Kong
and Indonesian Chinese cooking styles are very different.
For the price, it is classified as a high-end restaurant
where the main menu prices start from IDR 100,000 ++. Quite reasonable for a
restaurant in a premium shopping center area, especially in South Jakarta. They
also provide a variety of fresh cocktails from classics to very interesting
pandan negroni.
